Urgent Help for Malka, a Ukranian Refugee in Pico-Robertson - Los Angeles

Escaping Kiev
Malka's life turned upside down in less than two weeks. She heard bombing near her apartment in Kiev, escaped across the border at night with a small bag of clothes, travelled through Moldova, Romania and Germany, and is currently staying in Los Angeles. Her mother is receiving urgent medical care in Berlin, but all of their Ukranian money has been completely devalued, the banks in Ukraine are inaccessible, and the currency is worthless. Malka does not want to ask for your help, but right now she needs it. Anything you can give will help her buy vital essentials, and help her send money to help cover her mother's accommodation and medical bills.

A Shabbat-observant refugee in Los Angeles
Malka Bondar is 39 years old, very articulate and a professional journalist. She also had her own PR agency, is Shabbat-observant, had visited conferences in the US and frequently visited Crown Heights, Brooklyn, for the High Holydays. She never expected that this country would provide refuge, however temporary, when her own country was being torn apart by Putin.

Save One Life, Save The Entire World
Malka’s story represents so many of the Ukrainian community who are suffering and displaced. We can help her through this difficult time until she can re-establish her life, which will also allow her to send much-needed funds to pay for her mother’s accommodation and care in Germany. The Talmud teaches that “if you save one life, you save the entire world” (BT Sanhedrin 37a). We have an opportunity to save the entire world. Please give what you can to help this remarkable woman.

How Your Donation Will Help
During this traumatic transition period, your dollars will help in the following ways:
- To help Malka buy food, clothes and cover basic living costs whilst in Los Angeles.
- To help cover some costs for her mother's nursing home (which are 5000 dollars per month)
- To help with her mother's medical costs in Berlin. Germany is now flooded with Ukrainian refugees so there is very little financial aid available.
Thank you for supporting this worthy cause.
